
Matthew Torne
Matthew Torne is an Emmy-nominated producer best known for producing ‘Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower’, a feature-length documentary that won the Audience Award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and was bought by Netflix to be a Netflix Original. He is the producer of the Emmy-nominated feature documentary ‘Who’s Afraid of Nathan Law?’ which premiered at Hot Docs in 2023 and was broadcast in the US by POV/PBS in September 2024. Matthew produced the documentary feature film, ‘Mai Khoi and the Dissidents’ in Vietnam, which premiered at DOC NYC in 2020 and was broadcast on the BBC. In 2018, Matthew produced and directed the feature documentary ‘Last Exit to Kai Tak’, which premiered at the DMZ Film Festival in Korea. Matthew also produced and directed the documentary feature film, ‘Lessons in Dissent’ (2014), which premiered at the 38th Hong Kong International Film Festival, was released theatrically in Hong Kong and was broadcast by NHK. He cut his teeth as the Associate Producer on the Sundance and Emmy-winning ‘Enemies of the People’ (2010). For the past five years, Matthew has been writing, producing and directing a 10-part documentary anthology series on post-Soviet corruption’s corrosive effect on the West for the past five years. Matthew has an MSc from Oxford University and is a member of the Producers Guild of America.
